Fishing Rods

Whatever your favorite fish to find, there is a fishing rod or pole that will help. Several different types and brands give you a vast selection that you can utilize to determine which rod is right for you. There are many factors in determining what makes a great rod, and each specification is extremely important. Power value, or rod weight, is a frequent indicator of what type and size of fish you will be angling. Weights come in combinations such as Ultra-light, light, medium-light, medium, medium-heavy, heavy and ultra-heavy. The stronger the power value of your rod, the larger specimen you will be able to catch. Ultra-light rods are best for finding bait or pan fish, while and ultra-heavy model will be of great assistance when deep sea fishing for big game fish.

Fishing Poles

The first fishing poles were created primarily from bamboo, a product that is so sturdy, it is still being used today for creating fishing poles and rods. Beside the power value of your rod or pole, other factors include: action, responsiveness, guides, and reel seats. Action is important because it measures how the rod bends when pressure is added to the tip. Responsiveness is the entire rod’s ability to flex under large weight loads and release stored energy in the cast. The more guides you have on your rod, the steadier your casts will be and bending becomes more consistent. Reel seats hold the rod to the reel and are generally made from graphite or steel. You can also weigh the options of different materials like graphite, fiberglass or cork in your fishing pole because rods come in all shapes, sizes and varieties.

Fishing Rod Holders

A convenient accessory to cater to the anglers with one or several fishing rods and poles is a fishing rod holder. Styles are available to fit a variety of needs and are designed to fit certain areas. There are holders that can easily mount on your boat’s seats and come in single or multiple rows. Single holders can be mounted along the rails of your boat or multiple mounts can also be used. The single mounts can be used to place your pole while it is cast and waiting for a bite or for simple storage purposes. Strong plastic is a common material from which holders can be made or if you are looking for something more decorative to place in your home, wooden racks are also available.

Whatever the type of fishing rod you need, there are many options available to you. Research the size and weight of different rods before deciding on your next purchase and look around for you ideal rod holder, as well.
